CELEBRATIONS, EMOTIONS MARK FIRST 2013 BLUE OCEAN CONVOCATION
DAY BLUE-OCEAN TIES UP WITH TOASTMASTERS INTERNATIONAL Dubai : Blue Ocean, UAE's leading management training and consulting company held its first convocation for the year 2013 on Friday January 18. There were celebrations galore as 150 students drawn from different areas of specialization -- Logistics and Supply Chain to Six Sigma and Contracts Management, Human Resources and Cabin Crew -- passed out with top honours. The glittering ceremony was held in the backdrop of the Park Regis Hotel in Dubai and well attended by Blue Ocean students, patrons, alumni and faculty members. The certificates were conferred by Blue Ocean Executive Director, Mr. Sathya Menon. Blue Ocean also teamed up with the Toastmasters International to launch the first Blue Ocean Toastmasters Club in the UAE in a bid to nurture public-speaking/debating skills among its students. Speaking on the occasion Mr. Abdul Azeez, Director Blue Ocean, congratulated students for earning a top-notch international qualification that would hold them in good stead throughout their career. “This international qualification will take you places and open up windows of opportunities you never knew existed. An international certification is an instant passport to success in a multi-cultural work environment,” he highlighted. Blue Ocean boasts of an alumni network of 40,000 plus students worldwide and is credited with imparting futuristic skills to a new generation of leaders in the UAE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, India and Sri Lanka. The convocation ceremony proved to be a proud occasion for all the graduating students and their family member. The air was charged with emotion with most of the graduates arriving with their spouses to receive their prestigious international certification. The premium certification tags conferred on the students included the Certified International Supply Chain Professional and the Certified International Supply Chain Manager from the International Purchase and Supply Chain Management Institute, USA; Six Sigma Green and Black Belt from International Quality Federation, US; Certified International Commercial Contracts Manager from International Purchase and Supply Chain Management Institute US; Diploma in Cabin Crew from Cabin Crew Direct, UK; Certified Human Resource Professional and Certified Human Resource Manager from American Certification Institute. Mr. Nagabhushan Balaji, Executive Vice President, Head of Internal Control, Legal & Compliance, Dubai First, was the keynote speaker at the convocation. He helped students understand the basic tenets of being a good leader, a team leader and a manager. He explained how good leaders lead by example without imposing authority. “It is important to be knowledgeable and build a personal credibility based on trust and confidence,” he said. He also urged Blue Ocean students to display leadership qualities during challenging scenarios in a post-recession economy. In the Students Speak session preceding the conferring of certificates and awards, many of Blue Ocean's illustrious students shared stories about their valuable time with Blue Ocean staff and faculty. Varghese Philips who works in the oil and gas sector rated Blue Ocean as the No. 1 training academy describing his association as “rewarding and life-changing.” |
